Wed 26 Mar 2025 - P'al Medio & Tiempo España

Another fun week at the Port Town Brewing Company! We learned a new way to start a rueda circle - P'al Medio and Tiempo España. And we reviewed adios, enchufe, dame, dame dos, guapea, and everything we've learned. We stayed after class dancing and talking until the bar shut down! Check the video below for a reminder of how to do our new moves.

P'al Medio & Tiempo España: This is another way to start a rueda circle. Normally we go into P'al Medio and then Tiempo España. We'll do a couple Tarros (or Taritos as this teacher says) while going around the circle until we do a Dile Que No (same movement as dame) to get back into the normal rueda configuration. Check out minutes 0:40 - 5:00 in this helpful video:

Remember Enrique's technique section from this week about how to move from the hips down? Stepping & weight transfer are so important to make your dancing feel better and look better. Keep in mind that in Cuban-style salsa dancing (casino & rueda de casino) we don't step back like the teachers in this video, but their lessons are still helpful. The juicy part starts at 2:00.

Inspiration, anyone? Check out this super-fun video of a fabulous rueda dance team in Cuba. You'll see Ryan Mead dancing in the vid - he's one of the best rueda teachers around, from San Francisco, and he leads tours in Cuba where you learn from this dance group.
