Wed 6 Aug 2025 - Level 1: Enchufe, Level 2: Dame Loca & others
This week we returned to our normal Weds classes after last week's dance party (5th Weds is always a dance party with no lessons.)
In level 2 we learned four new moves - Dame Loca, Camina la Rueda, Tumba Francesa, and Enchufe y Casate. In level 1 we learned Enchufe and Enchufe Doble. Both levels reviewed all moves from previous weeks as always.
Dame Loca: This fun & easy move has the leads step into the circle on count 1 while clapping twice, then the follows doing the same on count 5, then an automatic dame. We also do Dame Local con Bulla where leads shout on 3 and follows shout on 7.
Camina la Rueda: Another easy & fun move that gives the rueda circle motion. You start by touching hands with the neighbor, then back to your partner, and then neighbor again. The circle keeps moving until the caller ends the move, usually with a dame.
Tumba Francesa: For this group move, think of the old movies where the lords & ladies of the European royal houses are dancing their fancy dances and handing off from one partner to the next. I guess that's where this move's name comes from! The move starts with an enchufe and it's critical to remember at the end of the enchufe to switch hands: right-to-right. Then the lead goes on the outside of the circle left-to-left with the next partner. Continue weaving with the next partners until the caller ends the move - lead brings that last follow behind and then does an enchufe with that follow, keeping the follow to do dile que no.

Enchufe y Casate: The last move we learned is another where the whole rueda circle moves together. It's sweet & easy and looks good. The move starts with an enchufe, then the lead spins over his/her left shoulder to face the opposite direction - lead and follow are both facing the same direction at this point. The lead then carefully takes the follow's right hand and walks forward arm in arm like they are going down the aisle at their wedding. It's optional for both to spin and go the other direction as this video shows. The caller will end the move with either an enchufe or a different exit.
Guapea: Basic move in rueda (cuban style salsa dancing)
Dame: (Scroll down to see detailed step-by-step video.) Switch partners by lead bringing partner on right over to left. Dame is the same as Dile Que No - dame is what we call in a rueda circle and dile que no is what is done dancing one-on-one.
