Wed 17 Sep 2025 - Level 1: Vacila, Level 2: Dame Variations and Rodeo

Next week we'll go back to our regular format of rueda teaching & dancing. We will still help you with one-on-one partner dancing too! But we think you're ready to partner dance on your own with what we did in our workshops the past two weeks.

For 10 Sep, level 1 will work on Vacila, and level 2 will work on several variations of Dame, plus Enchufe Rodeo. Some of the most fun moves!

See you Weds 10 Sep!

Level 2 - Dame Arriba, Dame y Paséala, Dame y Paséala Arriba, Enchufe Rodeo

Dame Arriba: This move usually starts with a regular dame or some other move that gets the partners in motion. The lead will go to the first follow on the LEFT and do a dame. It's all about the timing and the resistance between lead & follow.

Dame y Paséala: Another move that gets added on to Dame, just like Coca Cola can be added on. In this move the follow goes behind the lead and comes around to finish like a regular dame. Just like Dame Arriba, this move is all about the timing and resistance between lead & follow.

Dame y Paséala Arriba: Same as Dame y Paséala, just with the hands above the lead's head.

Enchufe Rodeo: (Or just Rodeo.) This is a super-fun one!  Another variation on Enchufe and very fun to do in a rueda or just one-on-one partner dancing.

The video has multiple variations on enchufe (all good!) Rodeo is shown from 1:00-1:10 in the vid.

Level 1 - Vacílala & Vacílala con Mano

Vacílala: Vacílala con Mano is the same as Vacílala - just don't let go of the hands!  Many people just say Vacila instead of Vacílala. This move is fundamental to so many of the moves you'll learn in level 2 and beyond such as Sombrero, Setenta, etc.  The follow's feet do the same on all those moves. Leads, remember to prep on 7 !

Another Vacila video with rueda circle:

Beginners - Welcome! Guapea & Dame are your foundational moves

Guapea: Basic move in rueda (cuban style salsa dancing)

Dame: (Scroll down to see detailed step-by-step video.) Switch partners by lead bringing partner on right over to left. Dame is the same as Dile Que No - dame is what we call in a rueda circle and dile que no is what is done dancing one-on-one.
