Wed 28 Jan 2026 - Level 1: Adios, Level 2: Chisme

We finally have a new blog posting after a long holiday break!  And we're finally teaching a new move in level 2 - Chisme. In level 1 next week (Weds 28 Jan) we'll teach Adios & Adios con la Hermana.

It's been a great holiday season and we focused on reviewing all the moves from 2025. And now we're ready to move forward again with new moves. Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Level 2 - Chisme

Chisme: Chisme translates to "gossip" or "rumors" and you'll see why as there are two partner changes in this easy and fun move. It's part of the essence of rueda dancing to have partner changes in the moves. Chisme starts with a two-handed enchufe for the follow, similar to how the move kentucky starts. The lead lets go of the follow's left hand and spins follow using follow's right hand at follow's hip so follow is facing a new lead. The lead then does an enchufe with the new follow and goes back to the original partner, doing a dame.

Please don't do the guapea like the dancers in this video! They swing their hands down on guapea - keep your hands in place. Other than that it's a good explanation of chisme.

Level 1 - Adios & Adios con la Hermana

Adios: With Adios, we switch partners just like with enchufe that we learned last week. It's a fun move because the two partners get to use each other's momentum to change places in the middle of the move.

Adios con la Hermana: This move combines adios and enchufe. It's different from both in that it does not involve a partner change! You start with adios and then the lead turns his/her back to the middle of the circle and does an enchufe with the follow, finishing with a dile que no with the same partner.

Beginners - Welcome! Guapea & Dame are your foundational moves

Guapea: Basic move in rueda (cuban style salsa dancing)

Dame: (Scroll down to see detailed step-by-step video.) Switch partners by lead bringing partner on right over to left. Dame is the same as Dile Que No - dame is what we call in a rueda circle and dile que no is what is done dancing one-on-one.
